Great things happen when local organisations work together, and our recent Digi Drop-In session with Wigan Borough Community First was a great example of exactly that.
We were delighted to welcome Sophie from Wigan Borough Community First (WBCF) to TalkFIRST, where she spent time working directly with Tracy to provide practical social media support, advice and new ideas.
Building confidence, not just creating content
The session wasn’t simply about improving a Facebook post or showing us how to use a particular platform. The aim was to help build our own digital skills and confidence so that we can make better use of social media ourselves.
Sophie worked with Tracy on ways TalkFIRST can improve its online presence, create more engaging content and use our social channels to better connect with the families and communities we support.
By sharing practical advice that can be put into use straight away, the Digi Drop-In gives organisations like ours the tools to become more confident and independent online.
Helping us reach more people
Digital communication is increasingly important for TalkFIRST. Social media gives us an opportunity to share our services, promote upcoming activities and, most importantly, reach families who may benefit from our support but don’t yet know that we’re here.
Improving how we communicate online therefore isn’t just about likes, followers or engagement. It’s about making our services more visible and accessible to the people who need them.
We’re already looking forward to putting some of Sophie’s ideas into action and continuing to develop what we’re doing.
