1:1 Support for Parents

Supporting parents and children from birth to 3 years old.

Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience, and the early weeks and months can be particularly tough—especially if you and your co-parent are no longer together. From conception to your child’s second birthday, known as the first 1001 days, we provide dedicated 1:1 support to help parents navigate a range of challenges that can impact their mental health, wellbeing, and their child’s development.

Our Tou-Can Group for Parents and Children

We run 2 Tou-Can groups, a welcoming and inclusive playgroup for parents (and grandparents) with young children hosted in Ince Community Centre and Sunshine House in Scholes. Held regularly, these sessions provide a safe, warm space where parents can:

  • Meet other parents, build friendships, and develop peer support networks.
  • Access 1:1 support from our Tou-Can workers for specific concerns or general wellbeing chats.
  • Take part in activities designed to strengthen the parent-child bond and encourage positive interaction.

Dates for upcoming sessions can be found on our social media [HERE].

Mediation for Parents

Parenting can be challenging, and when relationships change, it can feel even harder. Mediation offers a confidential, child-centred, and future-focused way to resolve differences, build trust, and create a positive co-parenting dynamic, helping to improve mental health and wellbeing for the whole family.

Whether you’re together or apart, our perinatal mediation service (from conception to your child’s second birthday) can help parents ‘press reset’ on family life, working towards a consistent and amicable approach for giving your child the best possible start.

If your children are older (3+), we can still support you. Get in touch for an informal chat about mediation and our Take Time To Talk project.

What our Tou-Can parents say

Good to talk to others and share experiences”

“I get dressed on a Wednesday”

“My mental health hasn’t been good since lockdown, being pregnant and giving birth then was hard. Coming here has really helped”

“It’s really good for me, makes me go out”

The group is at zero cost to parents, recognising that many parents are finding the economic demands on family life hard to bear currently, and they should not be faced with a decision to attending their group or buying essentials.  A donation tin is available for those who can make a contribution.

One parent said, “it’s great that its free. It means I don’t have to worry about coming”
