Reasons to write a blog on a Monday morning? Firstly, it is a nice and easy start to the working week, and secondly, it helps me recap on all the nice things that happened last week. That’s got to help your mindset and motivation for the rest of the week. There were several high points from last week. We gained a couple of new volunteers for our befriending project. I am always
in awe of people who want to volunteer and give their time for free to help people.
Also, last week I introduced our new volunteer Jennifer to the person she is going to support. It was really heart-warming to see the enthusiasm Jennifer brought to the visit. We think that there’s a huge amount of value in just being able to sit and spend time with people who may spend long periods of time on their own. It relieves boredom, stimulates older brains and lifts the mood. So it’s great to see a volunteer approach the role wholeheartedly. And to be fair to the rest of our volunteers, I can say this about all of them. We have a great group of volunteers – and that’s a great thing to focus on first thing on a Monday morning to set me up for the week.
